CONDITIONAL SENTENSE

Conditional sentence (sentence presupposition) is a sentence which is an action or event that will only occur if the conditions are met. Conditional sentences are used to express an event or action that may or may not occur.

Conditional Sentence Type 1
In conditional sentence type 1, the event has not occurred so it is possible if the conditions are met. This sentence is used to discuss situations that have not occurred in the present and will happen in the future if the conditions are met.
Formula: If + Simple Present, will + verb I

Conditional Sentence Type 2
Conditional sentence type 2 is used to declare an unlikely event because the conditions are impossible to fulfill. This sentence is used to discuss facts contrary to the present.
Formula: If + past tense, would + verb I

Conditional Sentence Type 3
In conditional sentence type 3, the condition may not be fulfilled because it happened in the past so the event is unlikely to happen. This sentence is used to talk about unrealized expectations in the past.
Formula: If + past perfect, would have + verb III

PHRASE
A phrase is a group of words without both a subject and predicate. Phrases combine words into a larger unit that can function as a sentence element. For example, a participial phrase can include adjectives, nouns, prepositions and adverbs; as a single unit, however, it functions as one big adjective modifying a noun (or noun phrase). Sentence is a construct that consists of subject and predicate to form a complete thought.
